Call for Proposals for Submission of Applications for Non-repayable Financial Contribution No. 0002 - has been closed
A possibility to submit projects and ask for grants was open to Slovak secondary schools (registered in the school network in the SR) and higher education institutions accredited by the Slovak Republic (HEI).
Applications on non-repayable financial contribution should have been submitted by eligible applicants operating within the territory of the Slovak Republic. Eligible applicants had be legal entities registered in the Slovak Republic.
A precondition for the grant to be awarded was to have at minimum one partner in one of the target countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway).
Applicants could also have partners from the Slovak Republic. These partner organisations had to meet the eligibility conditions imposed on eligible applicants.
The maximum grants were EUR 50,000 for secondary schools and EUR 150,000 for higher education institutions.

The NIL Fund supports following types of activities within the approved projects:
- Mobility of students (Secondary schools: minimum two weeks, Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs): students: minimum one semester, maximum one year, Ph.D. students: minimum one month, maximum one year),
- Mobility of teachers and researchers,
- Lecture stays,
- Organising joint language courses (Slovak combined with Norwegian, Icelandic and/or German),
- Courses and excursions with different professional focus,
- Bilateral and multilateral conferences and seminars within Slovakia, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein,
- Joint student conferences and seminars,
- Publishing of joint teaching aids and scientific publications, especially as outcome of a joint project,
- Drafting of joint study programmes and diplomas (Joint Degrees),
- Promoting growth of interest in the Slovak language in Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein and interest in the Norwegian, Icelandic and German languages in Slovakia (e.g. support for language and culture lecturers)
Projects of secondary schools should be mainly focused on the following topics:
- the exchange of experience in environmental education;
- increasing students’ awareness of the importance of environmental protection (including protection of biodiversity and waste management);
- learning about diverse cultural heritage in different countries and methods of its preservation (awareness of importance of cultural environment may help young people in towns and other settlements at seeking their identity);
- learning more about folk traditions and history of respective countries.
Projects of higher education institutions, supporting bilateral and multilateral cooperation, could have been focused on any education or science discipline. In case of a university students’ or PhD students’ mobility, it must refer to study programmes accredited in the hosting country. A students’ or PhD students’ mobility must be approved by the sending institution as a part of a regular study.
Time framework:
There were announced 2 calls for submitting applications. The total amount allocated to the call for proposals no. 0002 was approx. EUR 700,000.
Selection criteria:
Sub-projects were selected and prioritised on the basis of the following selection criteria:

Fulfilment of the main objectives of the call and project feasibility

Involvement of partners from the target countries
-
Reasonable share of the partners in the activities proposed within the project (emphasis put on reciprocity and balance of activities)

Involvement of students and PhD students (if applicable) in the scheduled activities
-
Clear and justified project budget linked to the accomplishment of the goals of the project activities
-
Complexity of the submitted project
-
Participation of equal gender shares in project activities (if possible in the applicant’s circumstances)

Regional representation of the institutions submitting the applications
CALL n°0002 OVERVIEW
There were submitted in total 24 project proposal within call no. 0002, in 9 cases the applicants are secondary schools, 15 applicants are higher education institutions. Two projects of secondary schools were suspended from further expert evaluation due to not complying with several serious formal requirements.
